The Sebring was Chrysler's replacement for the earlier Chrysler LeBaron. The Sebring convertible was introduced in 1996 and continues to be manufactured today. The early Sebring convertible top (1996-2006) was originally a two-piece top. This means the convertible rear window had to be integrated into the main top during installation as the top was designed, per classical two part tops, as a main top and a rear window section. The later Sebring convertible top (2007-2010) is a one-piece convertible top, meaning it comes with the window already integrated into the top--one less step for you during your own Sebring convertible top installation.
Two piece convertible tops were the norm until the mid 2000s.

This simplification yields a quality in the convertible top equal to the original's two piece top design but easier for the do-it-yourselfer.

Chrysler Sailcloth Vinyl: The original Sebring convertible top fabric was Chrysler Sailcloth Vinyl. This is a vinyl-surfaced convertible top fabric that was designed to imitate the canvas used in Mercedes and other cars. The Chrysler Sailcloth vinyl is an elegant, easy-to-maintain, convertible-top fabric. Featured on many late LeBarons, Sebrings, certain Mustangs and other cars, Chrysler Sailcloth Vinyl is a two-ply material made up of a PVC outer layer and a polyester/cotton inner lining. (In terms of durability, it's very similar to Haartz Pinpoint Vinyl but it has a different surface grain.) Sailcloth's surface grain is designed to look like canvas. It is an exceptionally rich looking, durable vinyl, and it comes in a variety of colors.
Sonnendeck (Twillfast) Canvas: Looking to upgrade your vinyl Sebring convertible top? We also offer Sebring tops in Sonnendeck Canvas, also known as Twillfast. An American-made canvas, Sonnendeck, a true double texture topping. Sonnendeck Canvas is a durable, rich-looking canvas comparable to Haartz Stayfast Canvas. The wear rating of Sonnendeck is also greater than the wearing rating for Haartz, by perhaps 10%. This is due to the slightly heavier inner lining and subtle bonding specification differences. We encourage do-It-yourself installation for careful handy individuals. Installing your own Sebring top can save you hundreds of dollars on labor costs. We offer a profusely illustrated convertible top manual, now in its fourth edition, which will walk through installing a two-part Sebring top easily. This covers, in detail, all the steps for do-it-yourself convertible top installation. You may purchase the manual to review it before purchasing a convertible top package. If you can use an air compressor driven staple gun, and are patient and methodical, you should be able to install any of the two piece convertible tops and, similarly (though with a few steps removed) the one piece convertible top version. The convertible top packages include everything needed in most cases. (Convertible top frame seals must be ordered separately if required.)
Note that there is no sewing involved in installing a convertible top. There is stapling and there is manipulation of the top fabric which in places is applied with contact cement. Hydraulics:
We now stock hydraulic cylinders, motor-pumps, and hoses for your convertible tops. All are made to OEM specifications. Each can be ordered separately; however, when ordering hydraulic cylinders we recommend replacing both. The chances are that both hydraulic cylinders were manufactured at the same time: if one is on its way out the other may follow. If the top is raised and one hydraulic cylinder is working harder than the other the result over time can lead to a slightly bent convertible top frame. The replacement of both hydraulic cylinders will ensure that the top raises and lowers symmetrically.
Systems for this car take Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) and have a 5 year warranty when used with this fluid. Brake fluid should not be used as it voids the warranty. We also offer an installation manual when ordered.
The 12 volt motor-pumps include a mounting bracket with rubber grommets to reduce vibration.
