Ohio requires an HVAC Contractor license prior to bidding on or contracting HVAC work. Applicants may choose to renew the license annually or every 3 years. How do I obtain a license?

To apply for your license, contact the Ohio Construction Industry Licensing Board (OCLIB) at 614-644-3493 or visit ohio.gov.

Ohio requires each licensee to complete Continuing education prior to each renewal. Ohio has reciprocity agreements with Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Washington and Oregon.

Submit Application

In order to sit for the exam, you must submit the application for licensure to the state. It must include verified education and work experience as required by the state. Once approved, the state will contact you with an exam bulletin.

PASS THE STATE EXAM

After studying with RocketCert, you will be on your way to passing the required State exam(s) (see below). Pre-approval is required. Testing centers are setup throughout the State in larger cities.

APPLY FOR YOUR LICENSE

After completing all the steps above, it will be time to apply through the OCILB to obtain your Ohio HVAC License. Licensees must provide proof of insurance at this time.
